Product description

The EXT 220 MED (form. Kumovis R1) is an industrial 3D printer specially developed for the production of medical implants and instruments made from high-performance polymers. With its filament-based extrusion technology, it processes materials such as PEEK, Resomer and Radel® PPSU, which are known for their biocompatibility and mechanical properties. The system has an integrated filter system that transforms the build chamber into an ISO Class 7 environment in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14644, ensuring contamination-free production. The precise temperature control enables homogeneous heating of the build chamber up to 250 °C as well as adaptive localised temperature management, which improves layer adhesion and reduces the need for reworking. Thanks to the delta kinematics, the EXT 220 MED achieves high production accuracy with a resolution of up to 50 μm, making it ideal for the production of patient-specific implants.

The EXT 220 MED is equipped with a global laminar air flow that enables users to heat the installation space homogeneously up to 250 degrees Celsius. The additional localised air flow improves the mechanical properties of the devices. The platform is designed to control temperatures during production to enable 3D printing of high-quality medical devices made from thermogenic polymers such as PEEK and Radel® PPSU.
